Dread Pirate Poetry

Rhyming Writ from the High Seas

She

There once was a girl most sought after,
Who knew how to make a man’s heart beat faster,
But the one thing more striking,
Than her Persian eyes smiling,
Was the frightening pitch of her laughter!

Setting Sail

Hoist the anchor,
Man the wheel,
The dread pirate crew sets sail!

Batten the hatches,
Tight the ropes,
The dread pirate crew sets sail!

Whether to riches and bravery,
Or wanton mischief and revelry,

Loose the cannons,
Tap the kegs,
The dread pirate crew sets sail!

Adventure Awaits

Pitch black sails unfurl,
Crossbones rippling in the wind,
Restless sea awaits.

Bird Problems

A good sign that to shore we’ll make it,
Is when gulls by our boat they do flit,
But the one thing less pleasing,
Than their squawking and squealing,
Is the breathtaking piles of their shit!

Being Prepared

There’s nothing more sad, you’ll soon see,
Than a barrel of rum that’s empty,
With no drinks to be had,
A pirate’d soon go mad,
Which-is-why ’tis good to bring two or three!

Born from a thousand nightmares,
All fear the Kraken.

Pirate Haiku

Scrawled on rotting wood,
Drunken rhymes and ribald boasts,
A pirate’s haiku.

Split Infinity

Extends as far can see,
Sky, and Sea, and Horizon,
Three infinities.

Weathering the Storm

The ropes lashed up tight,
Hearts clenched even tighter still,
Weathering the storm.

Philosophical Musings of Phil the Pirate

Dark, tumultuous thoughts,
Questions beget more questions,
But now, where’s me rum?
